Customer Reviews:

Very silly, very funny (26 June 2010)
"Really really ridiculously good looking" model Derek Zoolander's (Ben Stiller) career is going downhill thanks to new hotshot model Hansel (Owen Wilson). Many hilarious situations happen from here. Derek tries to do good for the world, support his family in the underground mines, being hypnotized into murdering the Malaysian Prime Minister by the villainous model billionaire Mugatu (Will Ferrell) and being chased by villains. All of these things make up such a fun and entertaining film.

  Avoid (19 June 2010)
Ok, lets cut right to it shall we? This film is awful.
The script is ok, and the actors all play their roles
well, and with those two boxes ticked, you'd
think that the result would be a film that people
will enjoy. And indeed, judging by the reviews
on here, many people do seem to have enjoyed
it. I however, did not. People will tell you that it's
a clever satire, and a social comment on the
fashion industry, but make no mistakes, there is
nothing clever or satirical about this film. Its an
original idea, and the premise is good, but the
execution is well below par. A shame really as the
potential was huge. If you like Ben Stiller and are
looking for a fun comedy, then seek out Tropic
Thunder or Dodge Ball.

A Marmite Film, and my favourite Ben Stiller Movie by far (20 March 2010)
Well, Zoolander is quite possibly my favourite comedy film, ever. Its combination of occasional slapstick and frequent sarcasm (as well as a couple of brilliantly cynical observations of the fashion industry), makes it undoubtably one of Stiller's best films. His influence is seen throughout, and if anyone has ever seen his comical rant at the end of Dodgeball about the cinema-going audience of today, it is easy to catch glimpses of the same, somewhat ironic approach to film in this parody of fashion.
Derek is a dim-witted but ultimately lovable character, and Owen Wilson is on top form as the bohemian model Hansel ("he's so hot right now!")
I must have seen this film at least 30 times and I'm still not bored of it. Personally, I feel Zoolander is a pinnacle of Stiller's career- a combination of brilliant actors, brilliant concepts and a good dose of British-style humour!!!

However, it is a marmite film, as many of his films often are- as much as I love this film, I can't stand Meet the Parents and those who enjoyed the latter probably won't like this film as much!

  Riotous (18 July 2009)
I will confess I only watched this because I was a captive audience on a plane. I'm not normally crazy about Ben Stiller; but I certainly enjoyed the film a lot more than I expected to. The best scenes are those between him and Owen Wilson. The two of them camping it up as over-the-top-male models, in a ludicrous plot about an assassination attempt on a head of state is absolutely barmy, but also extremely funny. The chemistry between them really comes over, plus the fact they obviously had a huge amount of fun making the film. It's riotous and ridiculous; but delivers plenty of laughs and certainly passed a huge chunk of time most enjoyably on an interminable flight.

  Stiller's Zenith (28 April 2009)
This is possibly the best Ben Stiller film, the only other decent one is 'Mystery Men'. Surreal humour abounds and Stiller's incessant mugging to the camera and his trademark man/child persona haven't yet become annoying. Owen Wilson is also on fine form and the pair's 'dance-off' refereed by David Bowie is one of the funniest things I've seen in a movie.
