Customer Reviews:

Great content but a poor BD (23 July 2010)
Top Gear probably UK's finest output as far as a tv show goes these days. Just fantastic, car fan or not.

I bought this just for the South American episode really. One day I'd love to do what they did but miss out the jungle!

Why only 3 stars? It's 1080i with a stereo audio track. If I'm frank the output on BBC HD was better. Th audio for sure was much better. I can make my Receiver upscale the audio into something respectable if I want but....I shouldn't have to. The BBC always seem to be falling short of the mark on HD productions. Planet Earth has the same pitfalls.

Bonneville is just upscaled SD output. (this is stipulated on the back cover)

So no, this is not a great example of what HD is capable of. I know I sound a little snobbish now but it's 2010 and I'm expecting better from the BBC by now.

  Top Gear Adventures 3 (27 June 2010)
This had the Top Gear Christmas Special on it which has one of my favourite Top Gear moments ever on it. Captain Slow, in a bandanna, emerging from a tent plus machete. Makes me laugh every time!
Good, classic Top Gear!

doesn't work in the US (21 June 2010)
Someone posted that the Top Gear Polar Expedition Blu-Ray works in the US, so I took a gamble and ordered this title from amazon.co.uk even though I live in NYC. Unfortunately it does not play on my US Playstation 3 and US (Sony) TV. I am not too disappointed as it was a gamble, and I thought maybe some other US based Top Gear fans might be curious. I shall send the disc to my brother, who lives in the UK, unless I find a way to play it. If I DO find a way I will update this review. I *still* give this disc a 3-star rating as the South American expedition was already fantastic when I saw it on BBC America.

Still On The Right Track (30 May 2010)
It seems to me BBC's Top Gear is continuing on the right track. After the Great Adventures 2 they were able to come up with more entertaining material. I found this 'Great Adventures 3' to be very well produced, interesting and entertaining. The director's cut of the 4x4 adventure was simply excellent.

I highly recommend this DVD to anyone interested in Top Gear. However, it's also good travel documentary as you will get to see different places all over the world, namely Northern and Southern America, and Romania in this case. There's great scenery where ever they go!

Excellent HD Quality, Special Features (27 May 2010)
I will say one thing before the rest of my review: This looks beautiful in HD Blu Ray. What you get on this disc is not just the Top Gear episodes, though. The 'Director's cut's' of the Bolivia and Romania specials are great, and you can see the funny bits (often not allowed to put of TV). Examples of the bits added in the director's cut versions include Clarkson finding a Cannabis Bush behind a Romanian petrol station.

Also, the Bolivia special includes an optional running commentary from James May, and various members of the production team, making for a very interesting rewatch.
