Customer Reviews:

Side-splitting for the wrong reason (23 September 2008)
I bought this because of the over the top gore and that is exactly what I got. We're talking: severed limbs and stumps geysering blood like a fireman's hose, spurting finger stumps, jetting necks, amputations and slashings of all kinds.

We're also talking over the top characters: who shrug off nails in the head and amputations and can take more hits than Godzilla before keeling over, who cackle as they maim, mutilate and murder innocents for the slightest excuse (or none at all but because they -the yakuza boss, his wife, and son -happen to be gleeful sadists).

And then it gets really silly. Three red-clad ninjas announce, halfway through a fight with our two heroines, that they are The Junior High School Ninja Squad. Parents of four children killed by our heroines (the aforesaid Ninja Squad and a kid beheaded earlier) dress like an American football team and announce themselves as The All-Parent Revenge Team (or something like that).

Long before you've reached this point, in fact since the opening scene, you've been laughing your head off because the entire movie is so over the top that you've realised it is in fact a comedy pretending to be a gory drama and that all suspension of disbelief has been ruined.

Machine Girl would ironically have been far more intense and gruelling if the gore and over the top characters had been amped down enough to at least make a pretence at seriousness.

It's just too damned silly.

So bad its good. (05 August 2008)
When I ordered this film I knew what to expect, a low budget Japanese action film . That was exactly what I got and more , the acting is not going to win any awards and the flow of the plot is inconsistent . The special effects are standard fare and added in the "look this is cool" use of a home fx package. The "story" uses many clichés ( a ninja yakusa enemy ) and the Japanese schoolgirl.
Despite all of the above , it works as pure entertainment and the above features add to the move rather than detract. I enjoyed this film and recommend it highly.

Bad taste gore fest romparama (03 August 2008)
Fabulous gore fest. Shoddy acting, tasteless gore a go-go - I think this movie is wonderuful! I came across it after pulling through a depraved obsession with Meatball Machine :) Sure, it's not going to be everyones taste, but if you recognise it for what it is you will find an amusing story line, excellently gross battle scenes (Tempura-ing your enemy? Brilliant!) and loveable characters.

  Please listen (02 August 2008)
I bought this film with the impression it was just another low budget asian film, which ok i wasnt expecting much but i gave it a shot... I was still dissapointed. This single film I literally could not watch the whole way through, I tried numerous times. With incredibly cheesy (not bad, cheesy) graphics, terrible, terrible, terrible acting, Incredibly poor character design and development and an incredibly dissapointing ending, I highly suggesting avoiding this film at all costs. Unless of course you're looking for something to poke fun at :)
