However, I was pretty fit beforehand and was halfway through a 10 week course of Pilates when I got pregnant, so I didn't find this DVD particularly challenging and was slightly disappointed when I found I could do the whole thing including the 4 - 6 month workout with ease almost straight after the birth. I have since bought some more difficult workout DVDs but still revisit Lindsey Jackson two or three times a week to help ease my tightened muscles and go through the relaxation exercises, which are brilliant. The tips on good posture and safe lifting and carrying are invaluable -obvious stuff which you don't realise you're doing wrong until someone points it out. I would definitely recommend this DVD to anyone who has just had a baby, just don't expect (like I did) a sweaty workout which will leave you sore the next day- that's not what it's designed for. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Brilliant! Kept me focused (16 April 2008)I found this DVD really easy to use and I began doing it every morning, within 1 month my body had completely changed shape. I still have weight to lose but feel so much more energetic and miss it if I don't do some form of stretching during the day! It really helps your shoulders after feeding and carrying the baby. I suffered with post-natal depression with my first child and found that the focus used on this DVD helped me stay very positive and in control after the birth of this child! I would strongly recommend this DVD to anyone who hates exercise or is too busy/tired, its well worth it! I have been doing it for 6 months now. (It also improves your sex life!!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() confidence builder (04 December 2006)I found this DVD very helpful follwing the birth of my baby girl. After birth i found i was nervous about what my body could do, how it felt and whether everything was in working order!! With the help of this DVD i gained confidence about my body, re-connected with my body parts and had a little 'me' time. I found the relaxtion techniques useful and use them with out watching the DVD when i need to. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Relaxing Exercise! (27 September 2006)I am very impressed with this DVD. I struggle to get motivated to exercise, but this programme is also very relaxing, so I am happy to get the DVD out. I have never done Pilates before, but Lyndsey's explanations are really clear and leave me confident that I am doing each stretch in the right way - using the muscles that I am supposed to be using! The DVD has exercise sheets that you can print out on the computer. I have found these really useful as a reminder of the programme so that I can do it without the DVD if the time the baby is sleeping is limited. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Essential for all Mums (08 September 2006)I would certainly recommend this DVD to all new Mum's. The exercises are in stages allowing you to start immediately after the birth and progress to further exercises as your body recovers. It doesn't matter whether you have exercised previously. Personally I have been practicing yoga for several years and found the exercises and education invaluable. Even though I was familiar with many of the moves, knowing when they were safe to do and the benefits of them to a postnatal body was and still is really useful. A section on preventing injury is excellent and really makes you aware of how you are carrying your baby/child. This has to be a good thing, as how many parents are there complaining of back ache from avoidable actions such as inadvertently carrying a child on the same arm! The relaxation and breathing techniques by Amanda Latchmore are brilliant for regaining composure and reenergizing, particularly after sleepless nights or bouts of crying (either you or the baby!). |
