| | Customer Reviews: The Pride Of Wales (29 May 2007)Calzaghe (or Kawasaki as certain commentators call him) is not only one of Britains most successful boxers, he is also one of the most popular fighters of recent times. Inside the ring it is business but outside the ring he maintains the image of an ordinary family man or the kind of bloke you could have a pint with. In a recent interview with a popular weekly lad's mag he declared himself a "pacifist". The disc opens with his first round knock down of Chris Eubanks in 1997. This is followed by fights with Branko Sobot, Omar Sheika, Richie Woodhall, Mario Veit, Charles Brewer, Tocker Pudwill, Byron Mitchell, Kabery Salem, Evans Ahira and Jeff Lacy. The only fight shown in its entirety is the Lacy fight. All the others are highlights i.e. the rounds with the most intense fighting and/or knock downs or stoppages. For me the highlights are the Byron Mitchell and Kabery Salem fights. Both see Calzaghe hit the canvass only for him to get up and comeback with a vengeance. The DVD menu has play main feature, scene select and play Calzaghe vs Lacy - the full fight options. The total running time is 133 minutes approx. This DVD is probably essential for Calzaghe fans. The fact is the performances on this disc will prove beyond doubt that Joe Calzaghe really is one of the best British boxers ever. what a load of rubbish (01 May 2007)please dont waste your time on this pile of ............ just because the media tells you something you dont have to believe its true! WBO is and always has been a joke-bit like your good man here whos last proper fight was against Eubank who took the fight at 2wks notice!!! CHAMPION CALZAGHE (09 November 2006)If anyone has any doubt that Joe Calzaghe is not the best boxer to come out of the UK in the last 10 years, watch this DVD! Features all of his best fights, including the Lacy fight, surely the best boxing display in years!!! There's also some superb behind the scenes footage. From in the gym to pre fight build up, which really show why Calzaghe has stayed at the top for so long. A superb DVD for every boxing fan Calzaghe (06 November 2006)I bought this DVD as a birthday present for a friend, but curiosity got the better of me and I decided to watch it myself first! I'm xtremely glad I did, because it's really outstanding. A brilliant account of Calzaghe's career, it includes his 11 best fights ever including the classic with Jeff Lacy. Not just for Calzaghe fans, I highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in the sport. Great stuff. CALZAGHE CHAMP (27 October 2006)Calzaghe v Lacy was such a brilliant fight that i wanted to see more of Joe's previous battles. This DVD's excellent as it shows all of the best action from his greatest fights. Also the behind the scenes footage gives you an insight into what makes him tick & drives him on to be one of the most successfull boxers we've ever produced. A fascinating & brutally compelling watch. A Must see!! |
