(31 March 2008)This is a fantastic dvd - everything simplified and explained in detail - starting with the preparation on Christmas Eve and then the big day itself but the wonderful added bonus is that you can you these receipes all year round - the herb butters, cooking veg, making stuffing - so this is a DVD not only for Christmas - buy it. Brilliant stuff! (06 March 2008)I have played this over and over again and it's great to get you prepared for Christmas and to remind you of the things that you need to buy. Tips on preparing things in advance are very useful. Great food and great entertainment - highly recommended! Superb. Jamie at his very best. Gets you in the mood for Xmas too! (06 November 2007)Okay. This DVD is fantastic in many ways. Firstly, Jamie has prepared a set of instructional cards that come with the DVD. These take you through the recipes described on screen. Jamie takes you through how to cook the perfect Xmas lunch over 2 days: Christmas Eve (preparation) and Christmas Day (cooking). I myself have had many compliments from people over my gravy, chicken and roast potatoes since I followed Jamie's recipes. He shows you how to baste perfectly, how to make the best gravy on a vegetable trivet, how to prepare the veg (complete with flavoured butters) etc...etc.. Basically, everything is here. And just for fun, an 'extra' is Jamie's '-top tips-' for Christmas. And he serves the meal up to his family at then end. Very Christmassy. Okay, I'm a bit of a Christmas nut, and I have many, many Christmas DVDs. But this one I start watching in September, as it reminds me about great tips for cooking, not just a Christmas lunch, but sunday dinner too! Great value for money that goes beyond Christmas and into everyday throughout-the-year cooking. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Just right (24 September 2007)Having lived in the UK for 5 years, I was looking for a cooking dvd that would show the typical british xmas cuisine with a hint of original ideas that break the traditional recipes' routine. Being a fan of Jamie, I really enjoyed the food he suggests and most of all I really liked the tips about organising the preparation of the christmas meal in a way that doesn't leave everything for the last hours and the cook exhausted. Good stuff (15 January 2007)Well it worked for me. As well as some great ideas on how to make your xmas meal a bit more interesting there's some excellent tips on how to plan it all so you have less to do on the big day. There's also some handy inserts for you to have to hand in the kitchen. |
