(06 September 2010)An excellent collection of material, overall extremely impressive contribution from the genius and legend that is Jack White. Buy this production so that if there is music literature that you own you can say 'It Might Get Loud' as it will make the biggest bang and then some. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Superb entertainment! (05 September 2010)Cannot do this DVD enough justice..if you're interested in rock'n'roll music...guitarists...anecdotes from the music business just buy it and watch it! High entertainment value in it's own rather quiet way and makes you reconsider music and the core or concept of it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Blu-ray disc video quality (05 August 2010)This few lines - and the consequent rating - concern exclusively the video quality in the "It might get loud" blu-ray. Honestly, I cannot agree with those reviewers who emphasize how the video in this blu-ray looks "awesome". Actually, the look of this video is - as maybe one should have expected - very... documentary-like. So, you get lots of grainy images, and, ultimately, a picture that is a LONG way from HD. While that's to be expected in the archive footage, is much less acceptable as far as the contemporary footage is concerned. I guess the director must have chosen to give this film that specific look, still, I must say I was very disappointed in finding out. On the other hand, the sound is exactly what is supposed to be on a blu-ray. Bottom line: if you're looking for a superior video quality, you won't find it here, so you'll better just stick with the dvd edition. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ACES HIGH!!!! (13 July 2010)i wait enthusiactily for any murmour of his name,(jack white)one of my idols!theres really no-one like him, but here you have 3 for the price of 1. sensational! 3 ace musicians. buy it!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 3 guitarists from 3 generations - but only 2 'real' guitar heroes (05 July 2010)I would recommend this movie to any guitar player, or guitar enthusiast or music-head: i.e, it might be a little too contrived / documentary for anyone else (but, then, why would someone without an interest in guitars be looking anyway?) The movie is structured as a documentary / biography of the artists - leading up to a jam session between Page, White and The Edge. Whilst the (aging) Edge and (aged) Page provide some delicious insights into their creative backgrounds, influences and techniques, it is clear that Jack White gave the editor/producer far too little to work with. Much of the camera time given over to White alone varies between obscure and rubbishy; with certain chapters worth skipping when you watch for a second time. On a positive note, White's input does illustrate that innovation around the deepest blues is possible with the simplest of techniques - so maybe you, too, could become famous one day... Look out for the deleted scenes - some great stuff here. In particular, the Seven Nation Army 'jam' session looks like it was deleted for Jimmy Page's face - he looks utterly underwhelmed by this riff! |
