Excellent series, extras please? (21 November 2008)
Having never seen the series before i was not expecting much, but this suprised me, at its best it was incredibly enthralling i watched lal 5 pretty much back to back. However no extras at all?!?! i just cant imagine what was going through the minds of the creaters when they called this an aniversay addition? I could have got a copy of the videos on ebay for 50p and just transfered on to dvd the quality would be just as good:( such a shame. I will recommend this series but not this set.

I've just bought and watched this because it's taken so long to get onto Pal Dvd.
I totally agree that the absence of extras and subtitles is disgraceful. That's only
part of my complaint. The picture quality is absolutely and utterly pathetic, I own
the vhs tapes on this series, I was delighted to see it released on dvd at last!
The picture quality is barely better than the vhs! I feel really cheated here.
What is the reason for such awful picture quality?? Revelation should be ashamed
of themselves for this release! Why was it not properly restored???
A great series ruined - what a waste of money! don't buy this!!!

No extras whatsoever ! (23 September 2008)
I simply cannot understand how one calls a set of DVDs a "30th Anniversary Collector's Edition" that comes with no extras whatsoever. Not even having put subtitles onto it is in my eyes a disgrace. Taking into account the importance of the Mini-Series it's just apalling. Otherwise it's a landmark TV-Series that deserves to have treated better.

When a DVD is released in this country for the first time, especially one so important as Holocaust - 30th Anniversary Collector's Set [1978]et, to do so without subtitles is a disgrace!

Its especiially galling that the region 1 copy has them.

As a deaf person I am, by all reasonable logic, virtually barred from watching or buying it, whilst on my own, my wishes are nothing to the realsing dvd company, but, times me by 2 thousand in the UK alone, and that some sizable sales lost to them and indeed Amazon!

This looks to be, as is the recent North American version of the television show, a cut and expurgated version of Holocaust. If you buy it you are supporting this type of behaviour--cutting films and television shows for a variety of generally unsupportable reasons--by megacorporations.
