(30 December 2008)this is a mediocre film in all aspects and i think is not better than the departed which is my favourite.but i must say that this is not certainly a bad film at all.i would give 2 stars to dvd alone.it is not well made at all. Great film with a quite good HD transfer (28 December 2008)Not the best picture quality compared to other Blu-rays. However I guess this was how it was filmed and the grain certainly does not detract from the excellent story, great performances or stylish cinematography and editing. There's good sharpness to the faces and the eyes in many of the well lit scenes and the overall atmosphere is consistent throughout even in places where the picture isn't so great. Recommended if you are already a fan of the film as I can't imagine it looking any better than this! One of the best films ever made! (27 December 2008)This is quite simply the best gangster film every made! In fact I would go as far as to say it is the best film ever made! It is certainly in the top five. I have watched it so many times now that I can recite all the words. The only negative thing is that you have to flip the DVD half way through. However this is a small thing in comparison to the greatness of this movie. If you have not seen it you should buy it now. You will not be disappointed. spend the extra money and get the special edition (10 November 2008)1* isn't for the film (which is 5* and then some) but for this DVD. ITS A DUAL SIDER DVD - yep, flip over halfway through the movie, you know when you're nice and comfy?, snuggled up on the sofa with the wife? enjoying one of cinema's defining films? YOU HAVE TO GET UP AND TURN THE BLOODY DVD OVER TO WATCH THE SECOND HALF OF THE FILM!!!!! I mean, please accept my apologies, but I thought we were in the 21st century? I havent had to turn anything over since listening to my 'Best of the Clash' LP back in the early 90's pre CD days! Why this DVD is still available I don't know. Buy the special edition instead and watch one of cinema's greatest achievements UN-INTERRUPTED. A classic. (03 November 2008)Goodfellas is the best gangster movie ive ever seen, ive watched it countless times and i love it. It is a true classic gangster movie, one of the best in my opinion - maybe even the best. Highly recommended. |
