(15 July 2008)I think this DVD is fantastic for the beginner of golf or for someone like me that has not played for 5-6 years, as a refresher on the fundamentals of how to put a round of golf together. All the basic aspects of golf are covered from TEE to GREEN, DRIVING to PUTTING and the correction of Bad shots such as HOOKS and SLICES (with an explanation of where they come from). Gary McCords presenting style is just up my street - not condesending or patronising - just witty and to the point. I watched it a few times and took the advise to the driving range and hit some far better, consistent shots than i did the week before - Perfect - just what i wanted - 5 stars. By the way, the rating of goods on Amazon is important it is what we all use to decide whether or not we are going to buy - I cannot believe the Guy who rated this DVD a two because it did not help low handicappers. It says on the cover GOLF for DUMMIES - what exactly were you expecting?? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Not a good buy unless your a total beginner (28 March 2008)this dvd is really not anything new if you are playing of 20 or lower.this dvd only really explains the fundamentals of golf and even that is not great.Although the dvd was extreamly disapointing the book goes into grater detail and is a better overall read and i would sincerly recomend it to anyone. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good for the beginner (13 November 2007)This book is filled with humour and good advice. If you're a golf pro, no, you won't be buying this, and why would you? If you're a beginner, it's a perfect place to start as it's not overly complicated and filled with details that are going to bog you down. All the "dummies" books are great, especially if you want to know just enough to being a sport or hobby or be able to converse at a cocktail party about something you aren't really familiar with. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Excellent for the fundamentals (02 June 2006)I keep watching this dvd over and over again, for one reason - it excellently explains and illustrates the fundamental aspects of golf. Gary McCord's unpretentious and simplistic teaching shows you the most basic of the basics, and serves as a great review to make sure you don't forget the simple things. The DVD is great for beginners, but doesn't cover any aspect in detail. An example of this is that any shot type (driving, standard iron, chip, pitc) is explained from a specific distance, and nothing is said on what to change if you're closer or further away. That being said, this is a great introduction to the game of golf, and an important reminder to keep you on track once you start getting better. P.S: If you're ten years old, you might find McCord's jokes funny, but honestly, he is starting to get on my nerve... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Great!!! (24 July 2005)I reat the german translation of the book. But this DVD-Version opened my eys for all my golf-trouble!!! |
