  District 9 (11 March 2010)
Dissapointed with this film.

The trailers made it look like a serious epic. High drama, no expense speared film.

However, i did not know weather or not to take this film seriously. Thought the graphics were poor. The story line was poor.

I got the impression there was a hidden message in the story line. The film is basically about how humans are so racist, destructive & generally none tollerent of other people. Especially thought the setting of South Africa was a little bit too far given the history there.

Didn't enjoy it at all. Seemed like its purpose was to send a msg to the world rather then to create a good, enjoyable film.

Poor. Not worth watching.

  Excellent (11 March 2010)
I was a bit skeptical at first - but found this to be a really good film.
I've watched it a few times now, and still think its excellent.

It felt fresh and a bit different for an Alien/Sci-Fi/Action film.
It wasn't a film based in America for once.
And - I didn't really know any of the main actors, which was refreshing.

Copley put on a excellent performance, a character that you could connect with throughout the film. I hope to see him in something again! I would really reccomend this film to anyone who hasnt seen it.

On a side note: The term "Prawn" isn't used because they look like prawns. (I mean - think about it, they look nothing like prawns!)

It's in reference to a Parktown Prawn which is a species of cricket found in South Africa. The South Africans consider the Parktown Prawn Crickets a plague and a nuisance.

So this is likely what the reference of "prawns" to the aliens is based on.

what a surprise this was (11 March 2010)
wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a surprise this was, i had heard the hype about this film and it is all true, this is one of the most original films i think i have sen in a very long time, in fact i will go as far as to say this is as good as avatar or better, the aliens are superb and very real and there are loads of messy bits to keep everybody happy , all in all a stonker of a film 10 stars plus

  District 9 (10 March 2010)
This for me what is I would classify as being a 'marmite' film. You either love it or hate it. I ended up loving it although the documentary style took me a little bit of getting used to. In the end I found it entertaining enough to the point of buying the dvd.

A POORLY VEILED LOOK AT RACIAL SEGREGATION (01 March 2010)
The film was not what I thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be something along the lines of Star Wars but it was really a political look on our treatment of other. Non the less good and a though provoking look at ourselves
