Kids Love It (16 December 2009)
Bought this for my kids over the holidays and they absolutely love it. Was even better as they got Rhino with it too.

Faulty goods (15 December 2009)

We had three attempts at purchasing this product - all were faulty. One distressed child and two exasperated parents!

Not quite your typical modern cartoon (24 October 2009)
I watched 'Monsters Inc' on television last night and although it's a good film, I was struck by how generic it seemed. Almost every character talked at 100 m.p.h. - as in most modern toons - and in a New York accent - ditto - and seemed to exist simply to give the scriptwriters a chance to show off - ditto once more.

Thankfully, 'Bolt' doesn't fall into all of these traps. Bolt himself, voiced by John Travolta, is a simple, slightly dim, but fundamentally good character. Penny, his 'owner', is refreshingly normal and not given to wisecracks. Some of the other characters talk at 100 m.p.h. in a N.Y. accent etc but they don't spoil the film.

The story is simple - Bolt, a dog, is the cosseted star of a spectacular TV show (the first 10 minutes of the cartoon feature Bolt in this TV show and they are brilliant, the best part of the film) but thinks the film is real life and that he truly has super powers. When he gets out of the film set and into real life, he has to learn that he doesn't have super powers (a little like Buzz Lightyear). After the amazing start, the film settles into a slower, road trip style - which goes on a little - before reaching the obligatory happy ending.

It's not the greatest cartoon ever made, but it's good, the characters are likable, and the story is satisfying.

Bolt DVD with Rhino cuddly toy (03 September 2009)
It was a big incentive to get this with the free Rhino toy. My kids had bugged me for weeks and normally I leave buying new releases until they have been out for a while and the price has gone down. But I could'nt resist getting this one, and by the way the toy is mine!!!!

Brilliantly entertaining Bolt! (08 August 2009)
Saw this at the pictures and my 7 year old boy loved it so bought the DVD. Very cute characters with a fab story line that keeps you entertained throughout the whole film. Great for kids but just a good for the adults as quite funny. A happy ending makes the perfect film. Would watch this over and over - loved it !!
